Plants are something essential to our daily living. They are the living thing that produces the oxygen we breathe. But not only that, plants have great benefits. Most of the plants used today are what make out daily vitamin intakes. They too are one of the ingredients needed for scientists to create medicines and cures for certain sicknesses. Plants are very useful and very beneficial to everyone. Some plants are capable to cleanse the air, improving the human respiratory, and even helping to scare insects away. Here are the 5 most beneficial plants for you to have at home.

Also known as coneflower, Echinacea is one of the flowers that are related to the family of daisies. It is one of the most common plants used in many multivitamin supplements. Echinacea consists of a complex compound of anti micro bacterial that works as an anti-inflammatory and Fenol that helps to control human enzyme receptor cells that work as a protection from infection and skin damage against UV Rays. It is also proven Echinacea can fight the common cold and cough. Not to mention its beautiful form and colors would make a great addition to house decoration.

It’s small and cute and it’s a plant that adapts both indoors and outdoor. The houseleek plant is a succulent plant of the sempervivum genus. In some parts of Europe, the Houseleek plant is known as the “Hens and chick plant”. In other areas, some called Houseleek “Ayegreen plant”. The fresh leaves of houseleek are harvested before flowering takes place. The juice produced by houseleek is often used to make medicine. The active principles produced by houseleek help gout, stomach ulcers, diabetes, burns, ear infection, diarrhea, stomach ulcers and treat itching skin due to bug bites.

Gardenia is a beautiful flower with a sweet scent. Gardenia has several meanings such as purity, love, and kindness, making them a great choice for wedding flower arrangements. Like most of the plants mentioned, Gardenia is also used in traditional medicine. The leaves, fruit, and flowers along with other ingredients are used as cold medicine. Gardenia is often consumed as tea which helps to reduce cholesterol levels. Its scent can be used for stress relief therapy. This is due to the sedative properties produced by gardenia plants which will help reduce anxiety, insomnia, muscle soreness, and irritability.

Not just the capability of producing more oxygen, Dracaena plants also help to control the humidity level of a room. A number of studies also mention Dracaena can improve the mood of those around it.

Also known as the Lili Paris plan, is one of the most favorable plants that most people choose to use in decorating their house. The spider plant is very popular for its longleaf with green and white linings. Because of the ability to adapt very well to both outdoor and indoor situations. Thus it makes an excellent voice for beginners and people who want something beautiful, beneficial, and easy to care for. Spider plant is very beneficial for your health because it is able to purify the air from toxins and produce oxygen.

So, what do you think? Any plants that interest you? Do you know any plants with great benefits? My mother loves plants very much. She would go to the gardening shop every weekend and buy new plants and equipment. We always have plants outdoors and indoors. My mother always tells me how she loves both Echinacea and Houseleek. According to my mom, Echinacea is easy to take care of and is one of the plants that does not make her nose itch when caring for them. And as for houseleek, we have small pots on the dining table, the living room, bathrooms, and the outdoor table. We used to have Gardenia and spider leek but it’s been a long time since my mother purchased those 2 plants. To be honest, the gardener who my father rented to fix our small garden, gave both gardenia and spider plants as a gift. When our backyard was still in progress, my father told the gardener how he had sleeping problems and constantly blamed the environment and the pillow. Then the next morning, the gardener bought spider leek and gardenia and put them in front of the bedroom window. (my father always sleeps with the window open). After a couple of days, at breakfast at the dining table, he said, every night and early morning, he always smells “something sweet” and he sleeps soundly. But ever since my father did a healthy diet, he lost weight and now has fewer sleeping problems. And the gardenia plant is long gone.

Before I was writing this post, my mother was talking about indoor plants. Explaining which ones she loved and which ones she thinks have benefits. I believe my mother and I believe, to some people, the following plants listed above have helped them too.
