1. Cuddling alleviates chronic pain
Experts believe that when you’re cuddling someone for a minimum of 20 seconds, your body releases oxytocin. Chemistry in our body helps to deliver oxygen throughout our body. It blocks the cortisol, which helps to relax your muscles. Thus you feel less pain.
2. Reduce stress
When someone hugs you, there is always an instant sense of calmness. Not to mention after all the stress at work and possibly the hectic environment we deal in today. Oxytocin released in your body helps to soothe and provide calmness. Thus cuddling works as a natural anti-anxiety medication. That feeling of safe and secure while cuddling will definitely take all the negative headspace away.
Based on a research article published in the PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCE JOURNAL, researchers conducted an experiment consisting of 406 participants that took 14 days. Researchers constantly monitor all the participants by contacting each and everyone every night and asking about their social relationships, experiences, and whether they receive a hug or not today.
As a result, it was found an average of 68% of participants who receive hugs occasionally from those closest to them, feel they receive more social support than those who do not.
3. Promotes better sleep
Based on SLEEP FOUNDATION.ORG, spending a little time cuddling during the day while in the morning, afternoon, or before bed, helps to provide better sleep quality.
4. Cuddling Increase Bonding
Sometimes, with only speaking, it is still hard to understand a person. Cuddling helps to provide a better understanding of emotions. Love, grief, sympathy, sadness, and gratitude, cuddling sends emotional messages through touch.
